Skateboarding with my nephew LucasLooking for guitar lessons in Tauranga?

Hi, my name's Hedley Timbs (B. Music, Grad. Dip. Tchg). I'm a registered teacher based in central Tauranga. I teach acoustic and classical / Spanish guitar.

My specialty is working with beginners. My aim is to get you playing the songs you love as soon as possible. With your own personalised course of study you'll be playing the guitar like a natural in no time.

I also enjoy working with students who have a few songs under their hands and want to further their understanding of music - i.e. song-writing, arranging, improvising, reading, theory etc.

How much are lessons?
30 minute lessons cost $30 (or ten for $270).
45 minute lessons cost $40 (or ten for $360).
Buying a block of ten lessons gets a 10 percent discount.

I teach from my home in central Tauranga. Contact me to discuss available time slots. Click here for answers to common questions.

How I teach...
First we'll get a clear picture of where you are at and where you aim to be. Then we'll set about learning your favourite songs. This is the most natural way to learn the guitar. Along the way we may look at improvising, theory, scales etc. However the main thing is to get you playing confidently and well.

You will learn how to use a pick correctly and also how to play finger-style. If you have a nylon string guitar then you may want to learn Spanish/classical guitar technique.  If you are keen I can help you prepare for the Trinity College music exams.

There's more about me - my background, qualifications, teaching style etc. in the About me section. Also, please check out my youtube channel here - it's where I put videos to remind students what we covered in lessons.
